Forgot your home Wi-Fi password? ByFly and can't connect a new gadget? The situation is familiar to many: you've been entering your password automatically for years, but when you suddenly need it, you can't remember it. Luckily, there are several ways to restore network access without contacting support. In this article, we'll look at all official and alternative methods, including working with router settings and your personal account ByFly, as well as emergency solutions if standard methods fail.
It is important to understand that the procedure depends on what router installed on you (your own or rented from a provider), and also on the device model. Most modern routers ByFly (For example, Sercomm H500-s or Huawei HG8245H) allow you to view the password via the web interface, but this requires physical access to the device. If you rent equipment, some features may be blocked—we'll discuss this below.
Let us warn you right away: Attempts to hack someone else's Wi-Fi (including your neighbors') are illegal and are punishable under Article 217.1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus ("Unauthorized access to computer information"). All methods in the article are intended solely for restoring access to his own networks.
1. Check the password on the router label
The easiest way is to look at the factory data on the router itself. Most routers ByFly have a sticker on the bottom or back panel indicating:
- 🔄 SSID (Wi-Fi network name) - usually starts with
BYFLY_XXXXorHUAWEI-XXXX; - 🔑 Wi-Fi Key / Password / Pin - this is the password;
- 🌐 IP address to enter settings (most often
192.168.1.1or192.168.0.1); - 🔐 Login and password for the admin panel (usually
admin/adminoruser/user).
If the sticker has worn off or is missing (for example, on rental devices), proceed to the next method. Please note: the factory password may differ from the current one if you've changed it previously. In this case, the sticker won't help.
⚠️ Please note: On some models (eg. ZTE H298A) the password on the sticker is encrypted as WPA2-PSK- an 8-character key. It must be entered without spaces and hyphens, even if they are on the sticker.
2. Password recovery via the router's web interface
If the factory password doesn't work or you've changed it, you can access your router settings and view the current security key. To do this:
Connect your computer or phone to the router via cable (via port
LAN) or via Wi-Fi (if the password is saved on one of the devices).Open your browser and enter your router's IP address in the address bar. This is usually:
192.168.1.1(for most models);192.168.0.1(for some Huawei);192.168.100.1(rarely, for older devices).
Enter your username and password to log in. Standard combinations:
| Router model | Login | Password |
|---|---|---|
| Sercomm H500-s | admin | admin or password |
| Huawei HG8245H | root | admin |
| ZTE H298A | user | user |
| Rented devices | byfly | Indicated on the sticker |
Go to the Wi-Fi settings section. The path varies depending on the model:
- 📡
Network → WLAN → Security(For Sercomm); - 📡
Basic → WLAN → WPA PreSharedKey(For Huawei); - 📡
Wireless → Security Settings(For ZTE). Log in to your personal account using your phone number or email.
Go to the section
Services → Internet.Find the block
Wi-Fi settingsorRouter parameters. This will display:- Network Name (
SSID); - Password (
Wi-Fi Key); - Encryption type (usually
WPA2-PSK).
- Network Name (
If there is no section, try to find the tab
EquipmentorRouter.
Look for the field Password, Pre-Shared Key or Network Key — the current password will be here.
If you can't log in with your default credentials, your password may have been changed. In this case, resetting your settings (see section 5) may help.
Check your cable connection (Wi-Fi may be disabled)
Reboot your router (turn off the power for 30 seconds)
Try a different browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge)
Disable VPN/proxy if active
Reset the settings using the Reset button (if other methods did not help)-->
3. View your password in your ByFly account
If the router is rented from a provider, the Wi-Fi password can be found through personal account ByFlyThis method only works for equipment linked to your contract. Instructions:
In some cases, only the button is available in your personal account Reset Wi-Fi password - when you click on it, a new key will be generated, which will have to be entered again on all devices.
⚠️ Note: If there is no Wi-Fi information in your personal account, this may mean that:
- 🔌 The router is not rented from ByFly (you bought it yourself);
- 🔄 Wi-Fi service is not connected to your plan (wired internet only);
- 🔒 Your account does not have permission to view settings (for example, if the contract is registered to someone else).
4. How to find out the password through a connected device
If at least one gadget (laptop, smartphone, tablet) is already connected to Wi-Fi ByFly, you can extract the password from its settings. We'll look at methods for different operating systems.

BYFLY_XXXX).Select

Settings → Wi-Fi.Tap on your network and select
Share(orQR code). The system will request confirmation using a PIN or fingerprint. A QR code containing network information, including the password, will then be displayed.

On MacBook or iMac:
Open
Programs → Utilities → Keychain Access.Enter the network name in the search ByFly.
Double-click on the found entry and check the box.

If all the previous methods have failed, there remains a radical solution - hard resetThis will reset the router to factory settings, including the Wi-Fi password (it will be the same as on the sticker). Disadvantage: all personal settings (such as port forwarding or parental controls) will be reset.
Reset instructions:
Find the button on the back of the router.
Reset(usually recessed into the body).Take a paper clip or a toothpick and press and hold the button 10-15 secondsuntil the indicators start flashing.
Release the button and wait for the reboot (1-2 minutes).
Connect to the network with the factory name and password (see sticker).
⚠️ Attention: On rented routers ByFly Resetting your device may block internet access until you reactivate it through support. Please confirm this with your provider by phone before proceeding. 123 (for subscribers ByFly).
What should I do if the Internet doesn't work after a reset?
If you lose your network connection after a hard reset, check:
1. Is the cable from the provider connected to the port? WAN (usually blue in color).
2. Are the indicators lit? DSL or Internet (if not, there is a problem on the line).
3. Is re-authorization required (on some models you need to enter your ByFly login/password in the section PPPoE).
If nothing helps, contact support and let them know that you have reset the router settings.
6. Alternative methods (for advanced users)
If standard methods don't work, you can try more complex options. These require technical skills and don't always work.
🔧 Via Telnet/SSH (for advanced users)
Some routers ByFly (For example, Sercomm RV6699) allow you to connect via Telnet and extract the configuration file with the password. To do this:
Install the program PuTTY (Windows) or use the terminal (macOS/Linux).
Connect to the router's IP via the protocol
Telnet:telnet 192.168.1.1Enter login/password (usually
admin/admin).Run the command to view the config:
cat /var/config/wifi_psk.confor (for Huawei):
display current-configuration | include wpa-psk
📄 Via a settings backup
If you have a backup of your router configuration (file with the extension .cfg or .bin), it can be opened with a text editor (for example, Notepad++) and find the line with WirelessKey or WPAPassphrase.
⚠️ Attention: Interfaces Telnet/SSH often disabled on rented routers ByFly For security reasons, do not attempt to activate them without experience, as this may impair the operation of your device.
7. How to avoid password problems in the future
To avoid having to search for ways to recover your password every time you need it, follow these simple rules:
- 📝 Save your password in a safe place: use password managers (KeePass, 1Password) or write it down in a notepad (but not on the router itself!).
- 🔄 Do not change the factory password unless necessary. If you do change it, make sure the new key is secure (at least 8 characters, including numbers and letters).
- 📱 Take a photo of the router sticker and save the photo in the cloud (Google Drive, iCloud).
- 🔒 Set up a guest network for friends and temporary devices. This will keep your master password secret.
If you frequently connect new gadgets, consider using WPS (quick connect button on the router). However, remember that WPS less safe than WPA2, and it is better to turn it off after use.
